Product Testing Report - June 25-27, 2012

Location: Fukui, Japan

Target: Hiramasa (Yellowtail Kingfish)

Source: Carpenter Japan

- Prototype casting rods

- Prototype jigging rods

BLC 80/13 + BF 60 in Squid colour

Hiramasa 96cm on BLC 84/25R-PM SC + BF 60

We spent many hours for testing new prototype jig rods to gather know-how on jigging during this trip

Hiramasa caught on jig in 20m depth water and this new prototype rods has good jig control in shallow water

Hiramasa 11kg on 8.3ft Prototype rod + γ(Gamma) 60

We have been testing this prototype rod to fill the power gap in current BLC range and both action and flight are well balanced with capture of Hiramasa up to 18kg so far.

They were chasing Flying Fish and small Yellowtail

With jigging, effective jigs and action keep changing depending on bait fish they chase. We also need to work on boat movement with different current, wind direction and water depth which gives different pressure to line and rod and this makes jigging difficult and also makes it interesting.

Learning jigging technique gives us different idea for top water lure development and we will develop quite a few lures with new concept in the future.
